The definiive answer to the air time question is this:
If two riders are both at the peak of their arc at the same height, and one is travelling faster than the other, the will both fall at the same speed but the faster one will travel further horizontally. If they were both jumping to flat, they would both have the same time in the air. However, this jump is to a down ramp, so by travelling further horizontally, the faster rider will actually hit the ramp below the slower rider vertically, and therefore will fall further vertically, and therefore have more time in the air.
If it helps, imagine a typical flat to down tranny, say a flat ramp overlooking a large meadow. It's two feet high at the exit. If you roll off the end without jumping, you fall two feet. If you fly off the end without jumping, you'll hit the ground way downhill and be much more than two feet below the lip without jumping.
